World’s first Monopoly-themed attraction lets you play the game in real life

Despite the arguments it could cause, Monopoly is still one of the most popular board games in the world. It not only tests your ability of striking the best deals, it can also teach you a thing or two about money. So how would you feel about it coming to life? A Monopoly-themed attraction was opened on October 26 in Hong Kong and it’s the first of its kind.

Monopoly Dreams lets guests experience some of their favorite parts of the game in real life and even win prizes. Inside the 20,000 square foot, both indoors and outdoors, are seven rooms based on the cards, such as Bank and Community Chest. According to CNN, guests will enter through Mr. Monopoly’s secret home which features collectables and life-size models of the playing pieces.

To Pass Go, you’ll walk through a neon-lit tunnel before entering into the Monopoly town. In the room based on The Bank, guests can try and catch coupons which could be used to spend at the gift shop and cafe. One that will be popular is the Fortune Board – where you could win prizes like business class flights or 1kg of gold.

But don’t forget to be on your best behavior because you could still wind up in a fake Jail.

Other experiences in the Monopoly-themed attraction include 4D short films at The Train Station. There is also a story running throughout the experience where a villain is trying to steal Mr. Monopoly’s treasure and guests have to solve the mystery. However, as exciting and awesome as this sounds, the attraction is only opening in Hong Kong.

But there is still hope for it coming closer as there are plans to roll it out in Australia. Macci Li, public relations representative for Monopoly Dreams, told CNN Travel: "The idea is that none of the players will go home empty-handed." Fans will also be able to buy Monopoly-themed items such as clothing and gifts from the shop, as well as snack on food at the Monopoly cafe.

Entry tickets to Monopoly Dreams start from $30 per person.
